EVENTS & FUNDRAISING

OUR STORY

IT'S BEEN A STRANGE FEW MONTHS...

WALK TO: TALK aims to promote mental fitness by getting people active in the outdoors, by bringing people together and by starting conversations on mental health. Our events usually take the form of fundraising walks that raise awareness about mental fitness. These events are designed to bring communities together in a bright pink wave, committed to the important cause of improving mental fitness. All our

WALK TO: TALK events are organised and run by people in their local communities.

“These walks are designed to encourage people to talk about mental fitness, often without realising they have.”

WALK TO: TALK is a brand established by Ben West, award winning mental health campaigner, in memory of his younger brother Sam who took his own life in January 2018, aged just 15.

VIRTUAL PAST EVENT | SEPT 2020

We’re so grateful to all of those who took part in PROJECT:TALK // 5000. We raised an amazing sum of £2,859!

Participants walked, ran and/or cycled a collective distance of just under 5000km during the month of September for our TREAT YOUR MIND LIKE YOUR BODY campaign.

The money raised will fund the vital initiatives we’re pioneering here at PROJECT:TALK. That means helping us set up mental health training for communities and provide wellbeing resources for those who need it most.

PAST EVENT | SEPT 2019

On Wednesday 25th Sept, Bristol Uni Sport joined WALK TO:TALK for welcome week!

We tried to get as many new students (and everyone else in the community) to take part in our 8 km walk which took in Bristol's sites as well as some key places on and off campus. We hope that this can continue the positive conversation among the latest generation of Bristol students.

The event was also part of  National Fitness Day. Which aims to get the nation active and thinking about what fitness means to them!

We've taken this one step further. We're thinking about the concept of 'Mental Fitness'. What can we do to help us better cope with what our lives throw at us?

PAST EVENT | MAY 2019

We took to College Green near the University of Bristol for our first mental health event and what a success it was! Participants challenged themselves to walk a half marathon route taking in all the amazing sites Bristol has to offer.

We raised nearly £3000 for Off The Record Bristol.

A huge thanks to all those who volunteered and to the 300 participants we had.
