ABOUT US

OUR WORK

Our Vision is for PROJECT:TALK become a nationally recognised, economically sustainable and highly effective solution for organisations who wish to support mental fitness, including the mental health and wellbeing, of their community.

From schools, to University students, from businesses to the general public, we seek to harness the power of individuals to draw communities together to revitalise mental health, inspire change and better support each other.

Mental Fitness is about togetherness. Only then can we thrive.

We center our work around four central principals. A community must be inspired, empowered and supported to nurture each one of these in order to truly reap the benefits of mental fitness:

AWARE

Individuals must be aware of their own minds and of the thoughts, feelings and emotions of those around them. This requires education, knowledge and understanding alongside open communication and a lack of stigma.

ENABLED

Communities must be highly driven with the desire, hope and permission to have a lasting impact. This gives individuals a sense of purpose – you really can make a difference. Communities require the means to train and improve their mental fitness, allowing individuals within to better seize opportunities presented to them whilst being equipped with the resources, language and confidence to navigate challenges.

PROACTIVE

We must foster a culture of early recognition when we are becoming overwhelmed and early action in the case of seeking support. Why wait until distress sets in to seek support? We aim to provide them with the means to navigate what they are going through. It must be the cultural norm within a community to come together, speak up and seek support from others.

RESOURCED

A key resource in the community is the support network we have around us. There must be compassionate, supportive and effective communication between members of the community. It is rarely necessary to rely solely on medical and professional support systems. On top of this, individuals must have the means to lead well balanced lives whilst being adaptive to challenging situations using personal skills and tools to understand and manage thoughts, feelings and emotions. At the time when intervention is required, this must be effective and accessible to all.
